It’s been a while since my last post—nearly two months, actually! But I promise, I have a good reason for the break. I’ve been deep into a project that I’m finally ready to share, and it’s something tied to one of my absolute favorite things: travel.
About a year ago, my sister and I decided it was high time we took a trip together. The itinerary was ambitious (as my plans often are), the experiences were unforgettable, and somewhere along the way, we found ourselves with a brand-new hobby. Like typical tourists, we hunted for the perfect souvenir—something special to capture the essence of our trip. We found a few pieces we liked, even some we loved, but nothing felt personal enough. That’s when the idea for our own store, Ninaivu, was born.
“Ninaivu” means “memories” in Tamil—a fitting name, since my blog is all about capturing moments worth remembering. I’ve always believed in the power of words, but there’s something about a photo that can speak volumes. Isn’t it amazing how a single image can transport you back to a moment in time?
With that in mind, we set out to create our store Ninaivu: a collection of art pieces that turn cherished memories into decor. We wanted to capture the awe of standing before Santorini’s whitewashed houses and turquoise domes against the deep blue Aegean Sea, or the cozy feeling of watching the rain transform Lucerne’s streets into a misty wonderland. Moments like these deserve a place in our lives—permanently.
As we dove deeper into this project, we realized memories aren’t only tied to faraway places. Our homes are filled with moments worth treasuring too—like the thrill of watching your kid score the winning goal (okay, I admit, I’ve never actually made it to my daughter’s volleyball games or my nephews' soccer matches, but I cherish the photos! No judgment, please—I’m definitely not Sporty Spice). Or, for that matter, the first Christmas you brought your fur-babies home, and they “helped” with the holiday decorations by doubling as ornaments for the tree.
There’s something so fulfilling about surrounding yourself with art that’s actually part of you. Why settle for generic decor, however beautiful, when you can fill your space instead with pieces that that mean something to you? Thanks to my sister’s expert eye, every item at Ninaivu is crafted with a creative touch that brings these memories to life.
But we didn’t stop there. We added puzzles and travel games—items we searched high and low for before our Alaska cruise but couldn’t find.
Our store is filled with things we’d buy ourselves; in fact, we made a pact not to list anything we wouldn’t love to own (just take a look around our homes for proof).
At Ninaivu, each piece is crafted to be more than just decor; it’s a window into a memory, a story waiting to be told. While some designs are inspired by our own adventures, our main focus is transforming our customers’ special moments into timeless keepsakes.
So here we are—launching Ninaivu, a journey in itself! I’m excited, (and a little nervous) but hopeful that people will love it as much as we do.
We’d love for you to check out our store, browse our collection, and if something catches your eye, please share Ninaivu with your friends and family. After all, memories are meant to be shared!
