Or 'never say never'. I can never forget just how certain I was that I'd hate our trip to Cancun. I'm not your typical beach enthusiast. The idea of sand clinging to my toes has always irked me, and unfortunately, that sentiment has never changed. I prefer vacations with more cultural and historical activities, something that isn't featured in Cancun's promotional materials. Relaxing by the beach is just not me..
After reluctantly agreeing to give it a try, I armed myself with a dozen books and prepared for a week of potential boredom. To my surprise, I couldn't have been more mistaken!
From the incredible clear blue warm waters that invite you in, to the powder soft beaches that reconcile you to the sticky sand.
From the mysterious Mayan ruins that call for solitary explorations, to the warmest people you've can encounter, making even an introvert like myself looking forward to reconnect with our friends every time we visit - this place has it all.
If I had to be specific, my experiences all center around Riviera Maya, not Cancun. But - I did learn, that being open to new experiences (albeit reluctantly) can be not only rewarding but also life-changing.
