Was it worth the fuss?

I was tempted to give it a miss. Another night with only three hours of sleep, and with all the meetings to attend that day, perhaps a short afternoon nap would be wisest. And even if I sacrificed my rest, was it sensible to head out with my allergies?

I certainly had no shortage of excuses.

In the end I decided to push it and drove to K Lane. I was the last to arrive; the driveway would have made Musk smile. Perhaps we should have all hopped into our Teslas and watched the eclipse through the glass roofs!

Instead we opted to sit out, don our eclipse glasses (thoughtfully purchased in bulk by my sister and sister-in-law), nibble on fries, and watch the dance between the sun and the moon - that is - when the clouds were merciful.

Teased with glimpses of the eclipse in its partial stages, and then tormented with the clouds choosing to curtain the event. Another peek, another hide, and on it went until - fortuitously, at the right time the clouds relented.

We got to see the darkness fall, the ring in all its glory, and then slowly the daylight creep back.

I am glad I took the effort. I know I would have regretted it all my life if I didn't. It feels fitting to commence my blog with an event that will shape my approach to travel in the future.

Just go for it, there is a good chance it will lead to unforgettable memories!!
